Helsinki Dances, for string ensemble, won the Moonlight Symphony Orchestra’s 2018 Composition Competition. It will be premiered by them in Vienna in summer 2019.
A BALLOON FLIGHT
A Balloon Flight, commissioned by the London Arts Society, was premiered on 24th November at Kings Place, London, performed by soprano Helen Semple and soloists from the London Mozart Players.
The piano concertino Drift received its first performance by the Royal Academy of Music Manson Ensemble with soloist George Fu.
The chamber ensemble piece In White was recorded by Ensemble 412. Originally commissioned by the University of Birmingham NME, it was inspired by the Whistler painting Symphony in White III, which hangs in the university’s gallery.
Joseph was appointed the 2018 Music Fellow at Rambert Dance Company and will be working with the company throughout the year.
Joseph was commissioned to write a fanfare to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Royal College of Physicians. It was performed at the ceremony by London Metropolitan Brass.
The solo cello piece Limber was inspired by Joseph’s fellowship so far at Rambert Dance Company. It is a fantasy with musical motifs transcribed from particular dance movements.
Joseph participated on the Britten-Pears Composition Course at Aldeburgh Festival 2017/18, during which he wrote Painkiller for chamber ensemble.
Joseph was selected to take part on Psappha’s Composing for Harp scheme 2018/19 and will be writing a piece for harpist Lauren Scott.
