/FLEX
re//FLEX is a piece for one live cello and several pre-recorded cellos. The recorded parts act as extensions of the live instrument, creating a shifting field in which the cello is reflected and multiplied. The live part fragments into this electronic ether, at times dissolving into it, at others emerging against it.
In the first movement, the live cello balances with its ghostly doubles, sometimes swarmed over, sometimes rising above them. In the second, it is gradually drawn into the groove of the tape, blurring the boundary between presence and repetition.
